The
Philadelphia Eagles were formed in
1933 and apart from one season in 1943 – when they joined forces
with the Pittsburgh Steelers to play as the Phil-Pitt Steagles
due to a player shortage caused by the Second World War – they
have remained faithful to the city of Philadelphia and the
Eagles name. As a result, their fans have rewarded them with a
passion unmatched around the NFL.
The
Eagles captured three NFL titles from 1948 to 1960, earning
consecutive crowns in 1948 and 1949 under head coach Earle
“Greasy” Neale. The
Philadelphia Eagles lost their only Super Bowl appearance
in 1981 when they were defeated by the Oakland Raiders |
