The Tampa Bay Buccaneers began
play in the NFL in 1976 as the league's 27th franchise.
The Buc's beginnings in 1976 were humble to say
the least. Through 28 seasons, the Bucs have seen some
peaks and more valleys. The Tampa Bay Bucs spent most of
their first two decades in the survival mode; many
first round draft picks turned out to be absolute busts,
uniform colors were once the laughing stock of the NFL,
and the franchise endured an ownership change that
finally brought an era of success.
In 2003 the Tampa Bay Bucs
became the proud owners of the Lombardi Trophy after a
48-21 thrashing of the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl
XXXVII. |
